What's Barry
wearing today?

Tinah is trimming button threads on a new batch of ALEXANDRA HÖJER shirts. The iron is hissing. The seamstresses machines are rumbling. Josie is upstairs at the cutting table, the crunch of her scissors clearly heard through the yellow-wood floorboards. This soundtrack of the studio, occasionally punctuated by the stuttering roar of the Reese buttonhole machine. Barry is standing still for once.

About to tell us why...

Ten years on and this jacket is still a hit with our customers. And me too. The cut has remained the same from day one, but, along with a few details and trims, construction has evolved over the years and it just gets better and better. This version is my current favourite: made in Portugal and over-dyed in Cable Grey with black bio-resin buttons and all seams bound in black. Tough, understated, a real workers jacket but cut with a certain panache!

Like the Yard Jacket, the Signature Tee has been around since the beginning and comes from the era when we were establishing the METRO= fit. We wanted a tailored t-shirt, easy to wear, timeless. It is the style that I wear more than any other. Every day. On its own or under everything. This one in our own brew of Dark Navy.

They look like Converse high tops but that's where the similarity ends. The build quality of these babies is next level. Natural rubber, baked onto the unbleached cotton canvas and a sole with a beautiful boing. Made to wear every day.

They're the new kid on the block, popular with me, you and everyone else. This version in crisp selvedge denim, worn with a hefty turn up. It takes a bit of attitude and I might need two pairs, the other shortened for summer sandal days. I love the half drawstring in the back waistband, a detail taken from old military trousers. Wear them low and loose and still feel held.
